University of Salford

As a leading University, we are constantly evolving to meet the needs of students, society and industry – and to stay at the forefront of global research on the issues that impact us all. This innovation, and our industrial heritage, is at the heart of what we do.

Green Space Dark Skies’ emphasis on creativity and innovation aligns with everything we stand for. We are one of the leading centres for practice-based education in the creative disciplines within the North West. And, as the only university with a presence at MediaCityUK, we are at the heart of one of the biggest digital and creative clusters in Europe.

We are partnering with Walk the Plank to develop some of the major public engagement for Green Space Dark Skies.

The partnership has the potential to offer up to 500 student experiences through live briefs, placements and extra curricula opportunities that benefit the student experience. We aspire to engage academics of all levels, from undergraduates to PhD students.

Become unstoppable

Our forward-thinking approach has powered progress for 125 years. Today, our unstoppable institution is bolstered by countless industry initiatives and innovative research programmes. We are building a thriving education community in Salford and beyond.

Our university community encompasses over 23,000 students, 2,500 staff and 170,000 alumni who come to study, teach and research here from all around the world. We are dedicated to improving outcomes for people, communities, the economy and environment through everything we do.

Through teaching, learning, research and enterprise, we will harness the skills, imagination and enthusiasm of our students and staff to work in partnership with large and small enterprises across the public, private and charitable sectors. These partnerships will help to change people and communities, delivering a lasting economic and social benefit.

We plan to take a very interdisciplinary approach, with each school playing a vital role. The partnership with Green Space Dark Skies will engage the whole academic community, from undergraduate and postgraduate students to PhD candidates and academic research staff.
